Toulouse-Lautrec at Musée Bonnat-Helleu: “Woman Pulling Up Her Stocking”

Musée Bonnat-Helleu is exceptionally hosting a work on loan from Musée d’Orsay: Woman Pulling Up Her Stocking (c. 1894) by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, displayed in the museum’s “gallery of bodies”.

This intimate scene, drawn from the world of late‑19th‑century Parisian brothels, invites viewers to rethink how bodies, labor, hierarchy and power are represented. A rare chance to see the piece in Bayonne and spark conversations about women’s portrayal and social realities of the time.
