About
Dive into a world of legends and captivating creatures with this exhibition dedicated to Basque mythology at the CDEP Ospitalea in Irisarry. Basajaun, Mari, Laminak, Tartaro… whispered names passed down through generations, reshaped over time, forming a rich tapestry of stories mixing mystery, nature, and imagination.
The Basque Museum joins the journey with selected works, including paintings by José de la Peña related to the witches’ sabbath (1938) and striking prints of regional costumes credited to Italian engraver Enea Vico. A great chance to (re)discover a powerful cultural heritage through art and oral tradition—and leave inspired by the myths of the Basque Country.
